Places of worship and cemeteries

Until the nineteenth century the village of Peckham was part of the parish of St Giles, Camberwell. It had no parish church of its own. The first place of worship was a non-conformist meeting house, possibly as early as 1657.

These pages show how the growth and development of Peckham and Nunhead is reflected in the establishment and change of use of the many places of worship.

The places of worship on each page are in approximate chronological order. Many are now used by different congregations from those who originally built them – use the Search box to help find the one you want.
